Packing Day

A HUGE thank you to all who have volunteered for Christmas Box Packing Days in the past! You’ve helped brighten up Christmastime for many thousands of Kiwi families.

1. What is Packing Day?
Packing Day is a fun day where volunteers gather to pack thousands of Christmas Boxes.

2. When? 
Packing Day in all NZ locations will be Saturday, 8th December, 2018.

3. Where?
The Auckland Packing Location will be at a Highbrook, South Auckland site.

Packing Day also takes place in six other NZ cities. Click on a tab below for information on other NZ Packing locations.

4. Who can volunteer? 
Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Entrance to the Packing Day event is conditional on accepting the terms of the Volunteer Agreement below, and a Health & Safety briefing on the day.

5. When can I register? 
Auckland registrations will open on November 4th, on this website.

 

Auckland Packing Day

The Auckland Packing Day usually begins with registration at 7:00-7:15 a.m.. After a Health & Safety induction tasks are assigned and packing begins. We aim to complete the packing by late morning, followed by a light lunch for all volunteers.


Additional (Auckland only) volunteering opportunities

Prior to Packing Day there is also opportunity for volunteering with set-up and preparation. This takes place from Wednesday to Friday before the main Packing Day event. These days require smaller numbers of volunteers, and each year individuals and teams from charities and businesses enthusiastically work together to get things in shape for the Saturday event.

These days run from 8am until 2 - 3pm, with flexibility.

Set-up Day - Wednesday 5 December (TBC)- Setting up the site in readiness for packing

Pre-Packing #1 - Thursday 6 December - Fine-tuning the packing system and begin packing

Pre-Packing #2 – Friday 7 December - Packing Christmas Boxes

Besides Auckland, Christmas Box Packing also takes place in the following New Zealand cities on the same day:
  • Whangarei
  • Hamilton
  • Tauranga
  • Wellington
  • Christchurch
  • Dunedin
Each of these locations has their own co-ordinating team who manage their Packing Day and so each local schedule will vary from city to city.

These local co-ordinators also manage their ownvolunteer registers. Due to the popularity of Christmas Box Packing Day events some of these locations open their registrations for just one or two days before reaching capacity. More information regarding this will posted here in October.

Registration Terms & Conditions

A Health & Safety induction will be given prior to each event and only inductees will be permitted to enter the site and participate. 

Privacy Act (1993) in providing personal information you acknowledge that:  

1. The information is being collected for the purpose of being able to contact you.  

2. You have rights to access and correct personal information held by The Life Centre Trust, PO Box 108138, Symonds Street, Auckland.  

3. From time to time we may contact you about upcoming events/initiatives.  

4. Photography and Video Consent during the event: We will be taking photos and filming various aspects of the event. The Life Centre Trust reserves the right to use this material for promotional purposes. 

5. You are required to wear closed-in footwear at all areas within the packing facility.

6. You must follow the instructions given on the day for procedure and Health and Safety.

7. You must be at least 15 years of age and consent to these conditions.
